The National Union of Students (NUS) Black students’ campaign is the largest organisation of Black students in Europe and represents all students of African, Arab, Asian and Caribbean heritage. They campaign on issues affecting Black students at a local, national and international level, connecting activists across the UK. They have a full-time officer and a committee of volunteers you can talk to, and a lot of guides, workshops, talks and skills training.

The Northern Police Monitoring Project (NPMP) is an independent campaigning and advocacy organisation to educate, empower and organise people in the face of police harassment, violence and racism. They attempt to get a bigger picture of the level and forms of police harassment in our communities, and also provide specialist legal assistance, community outreach initiatives, and educational projects, including know-your-rights workshops in relation to police ‘Stop and Search’ powers.

The Black Narrative is a platform empowering young black people to share their personal stories, and combat stereotypes. They interview young black people from all over the UK, and document that journey.

Black Activists Rising Against Cuts (BARAC) is a national campaign against austerity that focuses on the disproportionate impact of cuts against black workers, service users, and communities.

Operation Black Vote campaigns for a fair, just and inclusive democracy. They seek to inspire BME communities to engage with public institutions in order to address the persistent race inequalities faced in areas such as education, health and employment. This spans a number of areas including voter registration, lobbying politicians, mentoring schemes and political leadership programmes.

RAPAR (Refugee and Asylum Seeker Participatory Action Research) is a Manchester-based human rights organisation working with displaced people facing challenges relating to citizenship, housing, deportation, employment, education, personal safety and other problems. They enable people’s access to the services they need, assist in the formation of community groups, and develop research projects and learning opportunities that advance the general body of knowledge about displaced people.

Rethink Rebuild is a Manchester-based non-profit organisation that works towards improving the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants in the UK, and helping them become positively established within British society. They focus primarily, but not exclusively, on the Syrian community.

Rainbow Noir is an organisation for QTIPOC (Queer, Trans and Intersex People Of Colour) to meet, socialise and organise in a safe space. The group meets on the second Thursday of each month, 7pm, at the LGBT Centre in Sidney Street Cafe.
