International Officer

Why did you get involved with the SU?

As an International student myself, I have seen every struggle that an International student could have faced over the past 3 years and these experiences have helped me recognise the issues that might be improved within our University. I got involved in the SU to be the voice of our International students.

If you could achieve one thing in your year as an Officer, what would it be?

I am aware that living abroad can be overwhelming, especially during a challenging time like this. I will ensure that International students can make the most of their time here, knowing there is always support available.

Who’s your icon?

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, has always been and will be my icon.

What’s your best memory of being a student at UoM?

When we had our annual dinner as a society where we enjoyed our turkish alcoholic drink rakı and various delights of Turkish cuisine.

What do you love most about Manchester?

I love that there are many opportunities for a student. I also love its energy despite the weather!

What’s your proudest moment?

My proudest moment would be when I became the national champion in gymnastics. Also, when I had the opportunity to be the speaker of a big academic conference where students all around the UK had attended.
