Fundraising is more than just bake sales! This award celebrates student-led fundraising events that are creative, inspiring, and raise both awareness and funds for a good cause.

This award is open to any student-led fundraising event that raised funds for a charity or good cause.
Note: a society fundraising for themselves will not be accepted.

Nominations should:

1. Highlight the excellent event management of the organisers
2. Show the use of innovation and creativity
3. Demonstrate level of engagement with the fundraiser (online or offline)
4. Include information about:
    a. The amount fundraised
    b. Impact of the donations on the charity/ good cause and their work
    c. Charity numbers where applicable

Teamwork can make or break your fundraising, and this award is dedicated to the Society Fundraising Team that not only commits itself to the cause, but also works as a team in a way that guarantees success!

This award is open to any society at The University of Manchester.

2. Show evidence to a commitment to teamwork
3. Show the use of innovation and creativity
4. Include information about: the number/ types of fundraising events, amounts fundraised from events, supported charities and the level of engagement with the events

Some sports groups don’t just compete as a team, they come together to support the causes they care about and make a difference. This award is dedicated to the AU Fundraising Team that can bring their teamwork to any challenge.

This award is open to any group registered with the Athletic Union at The University of Manchester.

Nominations should:

1. Demonstrate a consistent club commitment to fundraising
2. Show evidence to a commitment to teamwork
3. Show the use of innovation and creativity
4. Include information about: the number/ types of fundraising events, amounts fundraised from events, supported charities and the level of engagement with the events

The best fundraisers think outside the box and use a variety of methods to garner support and donations.

This award recognises an individual who showcases all these talents, as well as being consistently active and understanding their activities’ social impact.

This award is open to any individual student who got involved with any type of fundraising activity.

Nominations should:

2. Evidence a creative and innovative approach to fundraising
3. Demonstrate the impact of their fundraising on a charity or good cause

Total Funds raised announced: RAG, AU, Societies, and Individuals

Each year Manchester RAG, our student societies, JCRs and passionate individuals put on activities and events for numerous charities and good causes.
At an in-person Awards ceremony the RAG Chair would come to the stage to announce the grand total of funds raised across the year. This announcement could take place online instead.

Manchester RAG is the student-led fundraising committee at the Students’ Union. It is responsible for managing innovative fundraising events that allow fellow students to get involved with and raise money for many local, national, and international charities.

This activity is maintained by passionate volunteers who strive to understand and change the world around them.

This award recognises an individual whose efforts have had an outstanding impact on the group and its events.

Nominations should:

1. Evidence the impact of the individual’s contribution to RAG, support of their fellow fundraisers, and building a collaborative community
2. Evidence a commitment to ethical and transparent fundraising practices
3. Demonstrate how the individual strives to improve and innovate the organisation
4. Demonstrate how the individual has helped build networks between RAG and other groups and organisations

The Students’ Union is proud to support student leaders to develop creative, impactful projects that benefit so many and tackle real social needs and issues. As well as this, student-led volunteer projects give fellow students the chance to gain new skills, develop thriving communities, and understand and change the world around them.

This award is open to any student-led volunteer project.

Nominations should:

1. Explain the social need or issue that the project was developed to tackle
2. Demonstrate how the project creatively tackles the stated social need or issue
3. Provide some evidence of the project’s impact. This could be in the form of quotes or feedback from beneficiaries, evidence from evaluation surveys etc.
4. Explain how the project is structured and run
5. Provide information about how the project impacts and benefits volunteers who get involved

The needs of the local community develop and change over time, and new issues arise. Some volunteers take it upon themselves to identify such an issue in the community and respond by creating a project to meet this need.

This award is to recognise the insight, innovation, and hard work that is required to create and build a volunteering project from the ground up.

This award is open to any student-led volunteering project that has started in the current academic year.

Nominations should:

This award celebrates project leaders that go above and beyond to inspire and support volunteers, use excellent organisational and management skills to deliver the project’s aims to its full potential, and create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for volunteers.

Nominations should:

1. Demonstrate how the leader and project contribute to a great cause
2. Demonstrate how volunteers are supported and prepared for their role
3. Demonstrate how the leader delivers the aims of their project
4. Demonstrate how the leader has gone above and beyond to meet the needs of project

Volunteers dedicate time and skills that are central to the work of the projects they support and their beneficiaries. This award celebrates an individual whose commitment to volunteering is exceptional and inspiring.

Nominations should:

1. Demonstrate commitment, passion, and enthusiasm to volunteering
2. Demonstrate how the nominee has gone above and beyond to meet the needs of beneficiaries
3. Show how a volunteer has taken a creative or innovative approach
4. Include information about the impact of this volunteer’s work

The Student Action committee oversees over 15 volunteering projects that work with Manchester residents and groups to deliver positive change in the local community. This student-led group also provides volunteer opportunities to fellow students, helping them to engage and support the community in which they live and study.

This award recognises an individual whose efforts have had an outstanding impact on the group and its projects.

Nominations should:

1. Evidence the impact of their contribution to Student Action, their fellow volunteers, and building a collaborative community
2. Demonstrate how the individual strives to improve and innovate the organisation
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the social impact of community action
4. Demonstrate how the individual has helped build networks between Student Action and other groups and organisations

Access All Areas is a student-led committee at the Students’ Union responsible for delivering educational projects for children and young people in the local community. Breaking down barriers to education is central to their work, and their projects aim to inspire young people and help them consider University as a valid option for them. This student-led group also provides volunteer opportunities to fellow students, helping them to engage and support the community in which they live and study.

This award recognises an individual whose efforts have had an outstanding impact on the group and its projects.

1. Evidence the impact of their contribution to Access All Areas, their fellow volunteers, and building a collaborative community
2. Demonstrate how the individual strives to improve and innovate the organisation
3. Demonstrate an understanding of educational barriers and Widening Participation
4. Demonstrate how the individual has helped build networks between Access All Areas and other groups and organisations

Campaigns are rarely won by individuals. However, one person can often make the difference between a successful and unsuccessful campaign. This award celebrates a campaigner with exceptional perseverance and passion, who has inspired others to take action and created real change.

Criteria:    

1. Evidence that the individual has made their campaign as inclusive as possible, encouraged others to get involved and demonstrated outstanding commitment to their aims.
2. Demonstrate how the campaigner has created real change
3. Include information on the impact of this individual’s campaigning work

This award celebrates the most outstanding campaign of the year. This campaign has used creative and sustained campaigning techniques, to gather mass support and make an real impact.

Criteria:

1. Examples of campaigning to deliver tangible change
2. Evidence the positive impact of the campaign
3. A demonstration of how this campaign has gone above and beyond

This year our campaigners have had to think outside the box to ensure their voices were heard. This award goes to a campaign which has shown exceptional creativity in its campaigning tactics.

Criteria:

1. Evidence the campaign has acted creatively- ie, online publicity stunt etc.
2. A campaign which stands out as having used different tactics.
3. Evidence the campaigners have thought outside the box.

This award goes to a campaign which has reached outside of the University bubble to impact the wider community.

Criteria:

1. Evidence of community campaigning.
2. Evidence that the campaign has gathered support outside of the student population.
3. A campaign which has organised action largely independently.
