Sign up to be a rep

As your Education Officer, I've been and continue to be a student representative and know how powerful student voice can be!

Now more than ever our student leadership roles are really important, you're best placed to know what's happening at a course level and feedback on that to make a change for the better. As a student rep, you're stepping up and leading to work with staff, students and the SU to make sure the University experience is current, engaging and fair.

What is a Student Rep?
A student rep is someone who represents the views, feedback & opinions of a course and works with staff to improve the student experience for everyone.

What do I need to do?
To sign up to be a rep, you just need to provide your details in this form
In previous years, we have needed an election where positions have more than one interested student - however this year we're working with schools to welcome all students who want to make a difference. There are still some areas where an election may be needed, but we can use the data you submit to the form to let them know you're interested.

When you're in your role as a rep you'll work with other reps, the new officer team & staff to raise issues, attend meetings and work on influencing change across your course and/or Faculty. What you get out of your rep role is really up to you - we'll provide training & support to help you make the most of your role & will work with your school to make sure there are plenty of opportunities to do that.

What are the benefits?
As this is a student leadership role, you will develop these skills as well as team-working, negotiation, organisational and communication skills. The role is also recognised as 1 of the Step Up and Lead roles as part of STELLIFY.

If you enjoy your rep role there's also the benefit of higher levels of representation, you could become a Faculty Officer or Education Officer like me - where it's my job to represent student voice at the most senior level of the University.
