Need to book a room?

As a society/group you can book rooms in the Students’ Union by emailing activities.su@manchester.ac.uk

The bookable rooms are:

Lower Ground Floor

  • LG1: 60 Standing & 35 Seated
  • Dance Studio: 20 Standing
  • LG3: 30 Standing & 20 Seated

1st Floor

  • Room 1.5: 60 Standing & 35 Seated    
  • Room 1.6: 60 Standing & 35 Seated

2nd Floor

  • Theatre:  200 Standing & 120 Seated
  • Room 2.2: 20 Standing & 10 Seated
  • Room 2.5: 60 Standing & 35 Seated
  • Room 2.6: 20 Standing & 10 Seated

You will need to provide the following information:

  • Society or Group Name
  • Date of the Booking Request
  • Start and Finish Time of your Event
  • Number of People in Attendance
  • Brief outline describing the type of meeting/event

If you have invited a guest speaker to your event (this is someone who is not a member of your society and includes staff at the SU and university) you will need to complete the application form by clicking on the button below. This includes events that are being held on 'Zoom'.

Visiting Speaker forms need to be submitted 3 weeks before your event takes place so that there is sufficient time given for these to be processed.  

If you require equipment in the room please state at the time of booking.  The majority of our rooms have a projector pack or a TV screen which you can link to your laptop.  We can provide a HDMI cable for this purpose unless you have an AppleMac for which you would need to supply your own. 

Opening Times – Monday to Friday - 8am-10pm, Saturday, 8am-10pm and Sunday, 12noon to 10pm.  Opening hours will vary in vacation.

University Room Booking Requests

Societies/groups can also request rooms/lecture theatres at the university.  You will need to email barbara.gordon@manchester.ac.uk 

The following information needs to be provided:

  • Name of Society/Group
  • Date(s) of meeting
  • Start and Finish Time
  • Number of People in attendance
  • Brief outline describing the type of meeting

University requests require 2 weeks notification before the date of your meeting.

University rooms/lecture theatres are free of charge on a weekday Monday to Friday.  However, before 9am and after 5pm there will be a charge for portering (Staffing).

Charges

£24.00 per hour for up to 100 people on a weekday before 9am and after 5pm.

£24.00 all day Saturdays for up to 100 people

£32.00 all day Sundays for up to 100 people

On a weekend the minimum booking period is 4 hours.

Out of hour venues (this is after 5pm on a weekday and weekend bookings) are Roscoe, Renold, Sam Alex and Uni Place.

Uni Place differs in relation to cost for portering charges. (Please ask at the time of booking).

If you are booking a lecture theatre and require an area for registration or for food and drink then you need to request the foyer space.
Cost of equipment is variable and chargeable out of hours.  Prices can be supplied at the time of booking.

Only certain rooms permit food and drink and any food and drink needs to be purchased from Food on Campus (Taste Manchester).  You are not permitted to bring in your own.
