Welfare & Community Officer Drop In Sessions

(Published Thursday 12th November)

Following on from recent events and the recent starting of the new national lockdown last week, I wanted to provide an update for you.

Your SU Executive Officer team have met with the University senior leaders to discuss the fencing incident and your general wellbeing. You can read the latest statement from the executive team here: https://bit.ly/3eQzIwd
We have spoken with the Vice Chancellor and the Director of Students Experience about your concerns and wellbeing. We will continue to negotiate with the university. Further meetings will take place in coming weeks. We will continue to update you.

As your Welfare and Community Officer, I am making available office hours from Mon-Fri for you to catch up with me on any issues.  I believe more than ever students need to be listen to. From 16th November, Monday to Friday 12-3pm you can speak to me either via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You can speak to me about issues you are facing at University, Halls of Residence, and projects which you can get involved at your Students’ Union. I am currently planning and working on 2 big projects. Greater Manchester Students Solidarity Campaign We Belong; and a Belong Engagement Initiative to celebrate students' work and projects on your students' union website. During my campaign last year, my priorities were students’ wellbeing, students voice first, and empowering students.

Together creating a greater Manchester, I believe, I cannot do this alone without your support, after all, it was your votes that got me here. So, lets' come together to achieve these goals. I am here to listen to you and work with you.
