Making our planet sustainable is a goal that our students are passionate about. However to ensure that as a students’ union we move from just providing our students the platform to just talk about sustainability to taking actual action, your 2020/21 SU Officers have secured a £50,000 grant from the university to establish the UMSU Steve Biko Sustainability Fund. As part of the SU’s values, sustainability is something we hold dear to our hearts and the students union has been participating in the NUS Green Impact awards for years. So this fund is to help us embed the same values in our students and support them in their bid to create more impact and a more sustainable world. This fund will be open to all students who would like to undertake any sustainability /ethics- related projects but are financially constrained to do so.

Funding Notes

The Steve Biko Sustainability fund will provide up to a maximum of £500 to an individual or a team of students whose project proposal is selected. The allocation of the funds will be dependent on the scope of the project and whether or not we still have funds available.
