Why did you get involved with the SU?

I have always been active in student leadership right from a young age so it felt like the natural step for me once I joined the Manchester community. However, my conviction was strengthened after being elected class representative, being exposed to student problems and offering some solutions. Simply: passion met opportunity.

If you could achieve one thing in your year as an Officer, what would it be?

I would like to put structures and policies in place to allow every postgraduate student to feel confident about entering the real world of work after their academic experience here. If every PG student feels this way, then we have done a great job!

Who’s your icon?

Definitely my father. He has given me every opportunity he never had himself. The highest level of education he attained was secondary school education but because of his labor, I am blessed with a decent life today. Indeed, not all heroes wear capes.

What’s your best memory of being a student at UoM?

The day it finally hit me that my grades were not the only determinant of my future success. I was not performing poorly but whenever I did not get the score I wanted I thought it meant I wasn’t good enough. What a lie that was!

What do you love most about Manchester?

Well, there is Old Trafford and Etihad, so what else does a football fan need?!

What’s your proudest moment?

Winning both the class rep and postgraduate elections has to be that moment.
