WHO WE ARE…

We are a branch of Students for Sensible Drug Policy UK, which is part of an international network of young people and students that originally started out in the United States.

Students for Sensible Drug Policy UK was founded by a small group of students at the University of Leeds in April 2008. Since then it has grown into a nationwide network with chapters all over the country and gaining widespread recognition as the voice of students and young people working towards better drug policies.

WHAT WE DO…

SSDP Manchester is an active campaign group. We have recently successfully passed two policies in the Student Union senate to improve drug education and provide drug testing kits.

These are our aims:

  • Make free drug testing kits available anonymously on campus and encourage their use.
  • Provide drug education to all students, including an online module and F2F workshops.
  • End the punishment and accommodation evictions for students who use drugs.
  • Provide effective addiction and mental health support for students who do use drugs.
  • Establish a sensible drug policy at the university that prioritises student safety.
