Online Training Hub

The training hub has a range of short online modules that you can use to learn and practice new skills before starting a new project or event. We have modules covering event management, budgeting and how to use the volunteer hub.

Manchester Community Central offer many training sessions and workshops. Their offering is updated regularly.

The Volunteer Hub is a tool developed by the University and the Union to make it easy for students to search and apply for volunteering roles as well as recording their volunteer hours.

If you have started volunteering, but have not yet signed up officially using the volunteer hub, let your project leader know, or email volunteering.su@manchester.ac.uk for support on how to sign up and log your hours!

Registered volunteer projects/ groups/ societies can book our rooms and venues in the Students’ Union and the University. Facilities available in the Students Union include: meeting rooms with projectors, theatre, venues and dance studios. Note to book a room in the University you will need to give at least 3 weeks notice. Book a room by emailing: activities.su@manchester.ac.uk with the event description, time, date and capacity required or visiting the Student Activities office (first floor of the SU).

The Cube. You can book out and reserve an area of the Union Bar for socials/ and meetings. To book email: bars.su@manchester.ac.uk

Other spaces you can use in the Union

The Students’ Union Ground floor seating area, Union Bar and First Floor Social Space are great places to hold meetings and meet-ups!

Wrapping up your project/ event

As you come towards the end of the year its important you leave a good handover for students who may want to continue your project/ event/ society in the future. Why not use the templates below and email them to the new leaders?

If you’re not sure who is taking on your project next year why not email a copy of your handover to volunteering.su@manchester.ac.uk and we can forward it on.
