Charity of the Year

Last year Manchester RAG has nominated Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity, as their Charity of the Year. Alzheimer’s Research UK has a vision for a world where people are free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia. You can read more about their work on their website.

If you or your society are planning to get involved with fundraising this year but haven’t yet chosen a charity, Manchester RAG would recommend supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK. If you do choose to support the Charity of the Year, please contact us through Facebook to find out how we can help make your fundraiser a success!

Holding your own fundraiser

Whether you’re a registered student group or an individual hoping to make a difference, the Volunteering & Fundraising team are here to support you with your fundraising activities. Simply complete the relevant forms below, or drop us an email at volunteering.su@manchester.ac.uk.

Alternatively, we host a drop-in every Monday, 2pm-3pm, on Zoom (http://bit.ly/VFmondays)

Fundraising forms

*Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, cash fundraising is currently suspended, and our team is instead supporting groups to use registered platforms such as JustGiving, GoFundMe, and Virgin Money for their fundraiser.

This decision is due to be reviewed on 26th October 2020.*

Online fundraising: lots of groups decide to host their fundraiser on a website like JustGiving, Virgin Money, or GoFundMe. This is a great way to broaden the accessibility of your fundraiser and receive donations from anywhere in the world.

For the V&F team to log your fundraiser against your group, simply email your fundraising link to our team at volunteering.su@manchester.ac.uk . You can ask for a total of your charity funds raised at any time!

Hire a fundraising bucket: compulsory for all cash fundraising activities. *Please note that cash fundraising is currently suspended due to COVID-19 regulations and is due to be reviewed 26/10/2020.*

Complete the form and the Student Activities team will prepare the bucket for collection from the Student Activities Office (SU first floor) on the specified date. We guarantee to prepare all buckets requested at least three working days in advance during semester time. If you submit a request within three working days of your event, we will endeavour to fulfil your request but this cannot be guaranteed.

Book a venue – to arrange a space for your fundraiser, email activities.su@manchester.ac.uk or drop in to the Activities Office (first floor SU) and chat to a receptionist. For logistical support with your event, you can also link up with our dedicated Events Team.

Public charity collection form: if you are planning a public collection such as a street collection, supermarket bag pack, shopping centre collection or raid, you will need to apply for a permit from Manchester City Council.

The Volunteer Hub

All volunteering and fundraising projects should be registered on the Volunteer Hub, a tool for managing and recruiting volunteers and logging volunteer hours. Use your student email address if you wish to register as a student. If you wish to register your society or organisation, please use an email address that is NOT your student email address.
