Societies

Joining a society can be one of the best ways to enrich your University experience. Here at the Students' Union they are big part of all the activity that takes place throughout the year. With so much to choose from, whether you're looking to try something new, to meet new people or to invest in a long time passion, the opportunities are endless. In 2018/19, the University Manchester Students' Union had the largest number of societies in the UK and you can find all of them at the Societies Welcome Fair that takes place as part of Welcome Week each September. You can also use the "Find a Society" tab to search through the huge number of societies that run activities throughout the year.

The types of societies can range from recreation, sport, culture, faith, music, drama, volunteering, campaigning, academic and more. From Quidditch to Musical Theatre, Computing to Islamic, Energy and Enviroment to LGBTQ, there's so much to choose from. If you still cannot find what you're looking for though, you can always create your own! All our societies work in partnership with our Student Activities team and each have a society coordinator to help, guide and enrich their experience of creating amazing student memories.

If you are a society committee member, there's plenty of useful information to help you manage your society available through the menu bar to the left. If you cannot find what you are looking for, try contacting your society coordinator or email activities.su@manchester.ac.uk .

If you're looking for a sports club that is not listed on our website, you might want to take a look at the Athletics Union who have a wide variety of sports teams to join.
