These were previously known as CRB checks. This is a safeguarding procedure to ensure our volunters are able to work with young people or vulnerable adults.

Do I need a DBS check?

Each volunteering opportunity advertised on the Volunteer Hub will state whether you need a DBS check or not. If you're unsure, use these flow charts below. If you're volunteering involves, "regulated activity", you will need a DBS check.

Getting A DBS Check - Accessing the Application

Please complete this survey and follow the instructions given.

ID Checking Service - Wednesday 14:00-16:00 @ Student Activities

Once you have completed your online DBS application, you will need to come into Student Activities on the 1st floor of the Students' Union to have your proofs of ID checked.  Please check the website below to make sure you have the correct documents with you before coming to the drop in service:

PLEASE BE AWARE - WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT 'PASS' ID CARDS THAT HAVE AN EXPIRY DATE.

Students who have lived outside of the UK

If you have resided in a country outside of the UK, you will also need to gain a Certificate of Good Will from that country.
